南阳是个好地方，中国独有。

盆地四季分明.但冬不寒夏不酷、气候过渡带。四周群山、冬无大风。人均水量全省第一，森林覆盖率全省第一。面积和人口相当于欧美一个中等国家，全省第一。是南水北调丹江水库核心水源地和汇水区，也是调水渠首。

南阳特殊气候造就大批飞行员，中国每100个飞行员12个是河南人，其中8个系南阳籍，所以被空军授予飞行员摇篮。
